Big question about privacy

Every time i open epic browser and open any page and run a netstat -n cmd.
I see the browser making a connection to
74.125.224.173:443
74.125.225.176:443
74.125.224.79:443
74.125.28.95:443
these all resolve to Google
why is the browser making secure connections to google when I open pages that do not pertain to Google?
Mind you this is with the global proxy turned on.

Re: Big question about privacy

Thanks - we thought all the strange calls to Google were resolved.  We will investigate.

Earlier, we had disabled but hadn't deleted the google safe browsing code - users caught this via the calls, Google makes many calls because they're relentless when they want to make a connection and the calls fail.
