Still happening, IP 208.... always switches to 204.... after a short while!
So this is not a very rare thing, the connection to the server is dropped after seconds to minutes. This is going on for days now. Why does this happen, please?

Yes, it happens often, thats why I was posting this issue. Been happening all day today and yesterday.
To clarify: I start Epic and get connected via 208.94.247.130
Then I connect to a server, but after a short while I get thrown out. I take another look and realize the IP has changed to 204.27.58.34 in the meantime.
Generally
199.189.86.27
199.217.118.201
204.27.56.170
204.27.58.34
are not working, and then there is one Linode IP, but Linode is explicitly banned from many networks too.

I noticed the proxy changes during a session. Is this new in the current version? (37.0.2062.0 (278856))
Certain connections don't work well or not at all with certain proxies (because the proxies being used by Epic are most likely or may I say obviously also used by others, not necessarily Epic users, for illegitimate tasks).
Up to now I was most of the time able to restart Epic until I got a connection with a proxy that does not cause any trouble, but for a short time now I cannot establish a connection to certain servers. I now noticed that this is due to the proxy IP changing in the course of one session.
Can this be helped and maybe even with a switch to chose whether proxies are handled dynamically?

Hi all, Can you tell me how to reproduce this? I tried cmd + Q several times, it did not crash for me.
On OS X 10.6.8 and 10.8.5
1. Update to current version 34.0.1771.0 (243083) via automatic updater.
2. After automatic restart, on system message that Epic crashed, click "ignore".
3. Quit Epic
4. Delete HiddenReflex Folder in ~/Library/ Application Support
5. Delete HiddenReflex Folder in ~/Library/Caches
6. Empty Trash
7. Start Epic
8. Hit Cmd-W until no window
9. Hit Cmd-Q to quit
10. System message pops up that Epic crashed.

I can reproduce what you describe. Note, however, that in Safari, I cannot open the page either, unless I change h t t p s : to h t t p :
Thus, the issue just seems to be that Epic enforces https on that page.

I am using version 34.0.1771.0 (243083) the about menu item tells me ...
No wait! ... the version is 2452, the update popup tells me
(at least the way I understand the message - technically, it only says that 2452 is the newest version of Epic, it however does not tell me that's the version I am using ...)
Wouldn't it be sensible for many reasons to have one scheme of naming version instead of two?

My concern is this:
I use the proxy. I switch off everything that could go around it (flash, JS ...).
Sometimes I see the green proxy icon in the address bar go red for a short time. Especially when reloading a page, like when it has become unresponsive, or when the proxy is slow/unreactive, etc.
Is it possible, that sometimes the proxy is not used, and data transferred directly?
Are you making sure by design that when the proxy is on, no direct connections are possible?
Are you making sure by design that when the proxy is on, it stays on unless a user actively switches it off?
The good ideas in this thread are still waiting to be implemented!
Whenever I do a new install or reset Epic, I have to go through all the preferences to get a workably "private" environment.
As to JavaScript, I do disable it globally, then selectively allow it for single pages/domains. Here, obviously, the problem remains that I cannot select within that allowed page which scripts to allow, and which not to allow. But this is a central point about privacy issues like tracking!

probably the best way to fingerprint a system/user would be via flash and os-level data like installed fonts.

Fortunately, Epic gives me the option to turn flash off.
Unfortunately, there is no such option for installed fonts information! Does it or does it not provide this info? Can this not be prevented by design?

We're setting up a much more stable proxy, in future, browsing will be much smoother, secure and stable.
Interesting! Why can't we learn such basic facts from the Epic main page? Like: what company where does provide the proxy function? Also, is this a paid service? Why are they doing it? Why have you picked them?

Besides, everyone trying this solution should notice that it will set Epic preferences to default!
