I have the exact same issue. The only thing possible at the epic webstore is to download an extension. It doesn't install. It's been that way for a while now.

In addition, extensions that are supposedly installed are not present and do not function. If I try to reinstall it says already installed, but when I look for it, not there. I now have a useless browser because there is no way to block advertisements.
