First the Good News - the site login credential is remembered, as example to this Epic forum.

Now the bad news.
After computer off overnight, freshly turned on and good internet access verified with Safari 11.1.2 (iMac 2010, El Capitan 10.11.6) I try using Epic 88.0.4324.96.
And I get the same problem as yesterday:
1) I have the Encrypted Proxy turned On/enabled for "US West Coast".
I try URL bookmarks for Duckduckgo, startpage, google.  All fail to connect, showing the same error as above:
""This site can't be reached.
"The webpage at https://www.google.com/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
"ERR_PROXY_CERTIFICATE_INVALID"
2) I change the proxy to select "US East Coast". But it gets the same error, it can not connect to any websites, getting the "ERR_PROXY_CERTIFICATE_INVALID" message.
3) I change the proxy to select  "Canada", and now I can connect to web sites OK.
4) So now I can switch it back to select US West Coast and get a little quicker performance response for finding and loading websites than when Canada is selected.

So there is definitely some kind of weird problem in the Epic Encrypted Proxy thing,(Version 88.0.4324.96 (Official Build) (x86_64)).
Either in the program or servers or certificate or something.

Though, at least I have a workaround: always choose "Canada" encrypted proxy first, then after it succeeds to get to a website page, I can change that to point/select the US West Coast proxy.

Please help to fix this.
Thank you.

Following up after I did a clean fresh install of  Epic 88.

After full clean-out of previous Epic, I installed the current recommended version, "Epic 88.0.4324.96 Official Build". This is on Mac OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan on an old iMac 2010.
And I successfully imported my previously saved Epic bookmarks.
A PLUS here, the import restored my bookmarks exactly, which is better behavior than other browsers which usually place the imported (HTML) bookmarks into a separate folder/subfolder.
I added the Adblock Plus and the Encrypted Proxy via the Epic web store page and tested.
Results:
1.) with US West Coast proxy ON, (closest to me) there is NO website access to any site. Error message is:
"This site can't be reached.
"The webpage at https://duckduckgo.com/ might be temporarily down ...  permanently to a new web address.
"ERR_PROXY_CERTIFICATE_INVALID"
2.) with NO proxy selected, websites can be accessed.
3.) with US East Coast (the default) proxy, I get same error, no website access to several tested sites.
4.) BUT with Canada Proxy turned on, I was able to access several websites, though slower outbound and inbound processing time (the spinning circle outbound counter-clockwise, inbound clockwise).
5.) then after this, I have been able to use go back and set to use either of the US proxy services.
(Starpage is still slower on the inbound process and build the page - maybe that is just them?)

I know I have to enter my various login credentials from my KeePassX password manager. Not yet checked to see if they are remembered. But it looks hopeful as I get the box on the top right asking if I wish to save login data.

So, it now seems to be working ... so far.
Just something for your tech folks to note about the upgrade process from 86 to 88 was a disaster...
Or something weird about how the encrypted proxy servers are being used/accessed?

Hope this is useful.

{one further note:}
On trying to edit this, my own response to my initial post, I recieved an error when I tried to edit and save my edit:
Bad HTTP_REFERER. You were referred to this page from an unauthorized source. If the problem persists please make sure that 'Base URL' is correctly set in Admin/Options and that you are visiting the forum by navigating to that URL. More information regarding the referrer check can be found in the FluxBB documentation."
But I retried and it took the edit OK.

I have been using Epic v86.0.4240.111 (Official Build) (64-bit), on Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.6 on iMac 2010.
It's generally worked well.
Excepting for one Epic update (79.0.3945.130) in the past which FAILED to work properly and in the process erased all of my logins.

Just recently (Feb 4 2021) Epic opened a tab window telling me to update. I went through the process to update it to Epic v 88.0.4324.96 - BAD BAD decision.
Horrible experience, it FAILS to CONNECT to ANY WEBSITE. Not even Google or Startpage search.

I reverted back to v86 by re-installing it over top of v88. At least v86 allows access to internet websites.
But once again, EPIC has managed to purge all my saved logins.

I keep getting an alert to update to 88.0.4324.96, yet I am am now twice harmed by a requested Epic update.
I don't know if or when I should ever trust an Epic update any more.

I will try one more time with v88, by doing a COMPLETE uninstall of EPIC v86, using AppCleaner.
I don't have much hope and dread the process.

Re. v88 being for a new M1 Mac and Big Sur - I DON'T need a version tailored for Apple M1 Macs. Don't have one and it'll be long time before I get one (if).
I DO want a private browser that works though.  :-(

I do like the Epic concept, just wish updating would either work, or let me skip the update forever.
