Well a lot of people still use Windows 7, due to security concerns with Windows 10.

Anyway, Epic works perfectly once it stabilizes, I just wondered what makes it unstable at start up.

But if the Epic is no longer coded to be used with Windows 7 then I'll have to find another browser. It's a shame really.

When I start the Epic browser it is very unstable. It flickers and stalls, and displays the message "not responding". It seizes the desktop, and all other active programs, which if you can access them, all display "not responding". I basically have to start Epic in the morning and go and make a coffee and something to eat while it stabilizes. So it takes 5 minutes to boot this browser.

Once stable it works properly.

I use Windows 7 x64 SP1. I have used config.sys to disable unnecessary programs and services at startup, paring it down to the basics.

I have tried ALL the usual fixes, resetting Epic, resinstalling Epic after deleting the software and clearing all registry entries and folders on the hard drive, but it makes no difference. I've run deep rootkit scans, and many other scans finding nothing.

I keep hoping that this problem, obviously in Epic's code, will be fixed with an update but so far not.  It's been like this ever since Epic was updated with a version that caused problems with the Umbrella button and other Extensions which WAS fixed with an update, but the startup problem remained.

I'm loath to drop Epic for another browser, but it's getting to that point now.

Any help would be appreciated.

This is what I did to get it working, Sorry I'll try to make this brief:

After "RESET EPIC" failed, I saved my settings and reinstalled Epic. It made no difference. In fact it was worse, my whole desktop was seizing. So I used "SYSTEM RESTORE" to revert to an earlier date, bu it seized at restart, I used "DISK REPAIR" to fix the issue and complete the restart and finished the "SYSTEM RESTORE". I tried to reinstall Epic again, again to no avail.

This is what worked: I uninstalled Epic, and opened "WINDOWS EXPLORER "searched my drive for ALL Epic folders and file and deleted them. I then opened "CONFIG.SYS" and deletd the Epic Installer entry in "STARTUP". I opened "REGEDIT", located and removed ALL Epic files and folders from the Registry COMPLETELY. This meant every trace of previous installations was removed and my computer clean of all Epic leftovers.

I rebooted, and REINSTALLED EPIC and it worked properly, the Umbrella Button and Proxy were back, so I reinstalled Ublock Origin, imported my personal settings and rules, and restored my bookmarks. When I rebooted again everything was as it was before the update.

I think there is a serious bug with the new version, but it's working OK now.

The same has happened to me. Went from working perfectly to all built in extensions not working. This makes the browser virtually useless. I have tried reinstalling. If I do manage to get them working they're gone again as soon as I reboot. I'm using Windows 7 SP1.

I will have to transfer all my work to Firefox until this problem is fixed. Not happy.
