It has been happening for months. It is incredible that it would  take so long to fix such a huge bug. I am using version 48.0.2553.0 of the browser.  Is there a later version?

Now that Epic Browser has been updated, this fix no longer works and Epic isn't working right anymore for me.  Any new ideas?

It still does it and it's so annoying. Version 55.0.2661.75, Windows 7 Enterprise, 64 bit.

This helped me...
edit EPIC shortcut to start with following parameters..
"C:\.......\Epic Privacy Browser\Application\epic.exe" --force-fieldtrials=AutomaticTabDiscarding/Disabled
The path between "" is existing in your shortcut.. need to append the rest to it...

Please try some of the ideas above.  Also you can disable hardware acceleration in the chrome://flags -- that may help.  This is default chromium behavior when you're low on RAM - it hibernates some tabs.
