Hi Proxy1, I'm sorted...! Now got ver.87* installed. As usual with software when it's falling over, stand back and think about it later on when you are involved in something else!
I recalled it fell over when I tried to open EpicBrowser.com with a Safeguard error from my Broadband suppler when using Firefox. ( I was using Brave with TOR) The BB suppler have SAFEGUARD installed which checks sites and prevents access including child settings etc, etc. It looks quite a useful thing to have in addition to the Firewall.
I went into it and specifically set EpicBrowser.com to be allowed, saved the settings, removed any existing folders as advised. Then running the EpicInstall as Administrator it was clear that the install was different and longer. So now we are with version 87.0.4280.88 32Bit is now installed. Have to say it is looking good. I'll install it on the other PC now. (already have it on the Android phone)
Many thanks for all your help. Regards, DD
Hi, Thanks for that Proxy1. When I opened it I could see it was my main source for Epic, and I now have five copies from there, the PCMag screen, all at 1,789Kb.
However, I downloaded another from there and again removed all trace everywhere of epic*.* was on the PC and just ran the last downloaded copy from there and it still failed to install. It actually came up with 514 'failed' notes. I then removed again all Epic*.* and re-ran the instal it as Administrator and just 255 'failed' notes in the EpicUpdate.log file appeared again.
Then removed all trace again, ran as Admionistrator with the Norton AutoProtect and FireWall both turned off. Still had 255 'failed' flags in the EpicInstall.log file. So maybe not Norton that is preventing the update, must be MS
There is something there in the Windows system that is preventing this simple installation. I have had no more success on another Win10Pro 64Bit PC.
Regards, DD
P.S. I use the DOS window and commands to locate files to ensure I don't miss any, which is possible in WinExplorer
Hello, I have had Epic for years v67 and noticed the lastest version is 87*. If I downloaded the latest version it failed to update 67 to 87.
So I removed Epic and now cannot install it. The EpicSetup.exe download is 1,789 Kb and I now have six copies, all stated as Ok by NortonAV.
The setup runs through Connecting to internet, pauses for a while and says installation complete. But Epic is nowhere to be found. The install log has 255 "failed" references. I have removed all Epic folders in ProgData and %localappdata% with no success.
I am on Win10 64bit. Using Norton anti-virus. I have also downloaded a copy from epic-browser.en-softonic.com which also fails but the EpicSetup.exe is slightlydifferent at 1,790Kb, as is the one from cnet.com . The others are from PCMag at 1,789.Kb
Perhaps someone can let me know how I can proceed?
Further to the above, www.epicbrowser.com invariably fails with "Secure connection failed on this site" and falls over. I do have an option to allow the site but wonder if that is the correct site before I do.
Many thanks.
