I learned about Epic browser from a blog and decided to try it, so I tested it for several weeks to see if there are any web site compatibility issues. One day I needed to use a different browser and when I was finished I closed Epic by mistake at the end of a long work day. This is a common mistake because:
• windows from both browsers are similar in appearance
• page title is not displayed on the window (like Vivaldi & Firefox)
• menu bar is in the same place on Mac regardless of which application has focus
I realised immediately what I had done, and did not launch Epic again… but too late to prevent the loss of 3 weeks research on a school project. And that data loss would not have occurred if Epic displayed a confirmation dialog before exiting. This design flaw represents a kind of trap which can waste the user’s effort and time. Some of that time is now being spent on session recovery efforts:
Testing Epic on another machine, I see 4 folders associated with the browsing session, and 2 of those folders are deleted when the browser is closed. I am now requesting instructions for recovery, including recommendation of tools, procedures, or any other information that may be relevant… but at minimum, I need to know which files must be recovered (and the correct path) in order to resume the lost session.
