This bug is back in the latest Mac build (NOTE: I saw this on Windows previously, and now I'm on a Mac. But I wanted to post in the original thread which happens to be in the Windows forum.)

I would like to better understand the technical cause of this issue. Can you share some information or even speculation about how Epic was originally breached by this adware? So that I can feel comfortable continuing to use Epic I would like to better understand any relevant security problems with Epic, past or present. I want to continue trusting your released builds, but I need more information to do so.

I am seeing adware in Epic on my Macbook Pro Retina 13-inch. See the screenshot below. It shows up intermittently on various websites. I ran a Sophos anti-virus scan and no issues were detected. I like Epic and I want to keep using it, but I need to resolve this issue. I went to chrome://extensions to see if the adware is an extension, but Epic says extensions are disallowed, so I'm not sure how to proceed to fix this problem.

I used the Inspector to get the HTML of the ad, which I'm going to post separately below because the forum would not allow me to use more than one link in this post.

#4 Epic Mac Bugs » Umbrella Menu not working on certain websites » 2014-01-01 23:35:03

Umbrella menu is affected by the following issue on certain sites.
1) On Epic for Mac, open a new tab.
2) Navigate to bing.com
3) Click the umbrella menu. Then resize your browser window. Then click the umbrella menu again. Repeat until you see issue pictured in screenshot (menu not showing, appears to be stuck loading).

Note that issue seems to affect all sites intermittently -- for example, on google.com if you click the Umbrella menu icon several dozen times you can reproduce the issue. On other sites the issue is more frequent (example, bing.com).

In the new tab page, there is a spelling mistake. It reads:

B r e a t h   F r e e.  Your browsing is now private.

The word "breathe" needs to be spelled with an 'e' on the end here.
