Hi everyone,
I’ve been using incognito/private browsing mode in various browsers, including Epic, and I’m wondering — how private is it really?
Can websites, ISPs, or trackers still collect data when in incognito?
Does Epic’s incognito mode offer stronger protections than Chrome or Firefox?
Are there any recent privacy violations or leaks related to private browsing?
Would love to hear your thoughts, experiences, or any trusted sources explaining what’s truly hidden — and what’s not — when using private mode.
Thanks!
Hey Mark, the issue might be due to Epic using built-in encrypted proxies or VPNs that bypass system DNS settings — including OpenDNS. Try disabling the proxy/VPN feature in Epic and test again. That should allow OpenDNS filtering to take effect. Hope it helps!
Same issue here after the recent update on macOS Big Sur 11.7.10 — Epic crashes immediately on launch. Reinstalled and rebooted, but no luck. Anyone found a fix yet? Really hoping for an update or workaround soon.
