I'm not sure actually.  You can check in the settings menu or possibly in the chrome:flags.  This is new Chromium default behavior.  It's designed to help stop phishing by showing only the actual URL a user is at rather than the full url (which is often misleading hence the phishing) unless the user clicks in the address bar.
