Sorry, it may be related to some changes in the latest Chromium extension handling...not sure...strange as we haven't had issues installing extensions in our testing...we will have a new desktop update out hopefully by the end of April. (from Alok).
Try disabling the adblocker/reload and see if that helps on those problem sites. You can try it with or without the VPN.
