It could be caused by a variety of different occurrences. Please elaborate!

You are welcome.  A lot of problems can be eliminated by flushing DNS cache, rebooting router etc.  and should be done routinely.

Turn off the proxy, close Epic and restart. What OS, version etc.?

Yes, you could also try turning on/off the encrypted proxy and flushing the DNS cache which worked for Salvatore.

Yes, if Epic is ever slow, try disabling the proxy to make sure your connection is still fast, and then try some different proxy countries.  Sometimes a particular server can get a little slow...but usually Epic works great and is very fast.
