Epic Update process stealing focus

I've been having trouble lately with programs seemingly randomly losing focus and dropping to desktop. This is particularly annoying when I've settled down to watch a video or when I'm playing a game that doesn't alt-tab well. I downloaded and started running Process Explorer, and found that the Epic Update process had stopped at precisely the same time my other program lost focus. I'm running 64-bit Windows 7.
