Poor performance with version 38.0.2125.111

It seem the latest release has some performance lack, especially when viewing images. Activity Monitor shows peaks 96% CPU usage and also the Epic helper apps consume quite some CPU power.

Can I download the previous version somewhere?

No extensions are installed. I can verify the performance drop if you provide a download link to the previous Epic version. Maybe the RAM and CPU usage didn't change but scrolling with images seems definitely more jerky.

I also notice little dropouts during video playback in YouTube while the video is still loading.

Also, if you click the Battery icon in the menu bar it always lists Epic under "Apps Using Significant Energy" no matter what kind of content you browse.

Can you help us little in what is taking more memory /CPU?

Go to Epic->Wrench Menu->Tools->Task Manager and paste the screenshot here? With that we can analyze what is eating up RAM or CPU

Thank You

Attached you find the screenshot showing the task manager while playing a YouTube video. The playback in YouTube is jerky.

Re: Poor performance with version 38.0.2125.111

Looks like I solved the problem by uninstalling and reinstalling Flash.

*EDIT*: After reinstalling Flash the playback issue was solved just for a short time. Now jerky playback is back. I compared with Firefox and playback of the same clip is just fine in Firefox. Same for the image gallery browsing, again comparing Google image search with Firefox clearly shows the poor performance in Epic, especially when clicking an image.

just to add my 2 cents...i'm not seeing Epic listed under Apps Using Significant Energy, but i do see an excess amount of Epic Helper (not responding) listed in Activity Monitor. Pages drag to load, too.

Looks like very bad performance of Epic. I'm planning to upgrade to a latest stable version of chromium.

I don't see an improvement in 40.0.2185.0.

Re: Poor performance with version 38.0.2125.111

I can't login to AOL because I get a message saying I'm being blocked by an Extension. How do I find out what extension? Actually, I only have one extension (Pockets) and I disabled it and I still cannot use Epic to read my AOL mail.  I'm on OS 10.6.8

I can't use Epic anymore on my iMac OS 10.6 because it keeps saying I'm blocked by an "extension". I deleted the extensions before and still can't use your browser. I'm very disappointed because it used to be a great browser and I really liked it.  I hope someone will answer my post this time. The last one has not be addressed at all.

Re: Poor performance with version 38.0.2125.111

I am using Version 40.0.2185.0 on OS X 10.11.1 and the performance is great. Looking two videos in parallel and the CPU load is just at 11%. Also the Epic Helper apps tended to be unresponsive in Activity Monitor. This problem is gone too. Looks great here.
