How can I stop getting Epic shortcuts on desktop & taskbar?

I recently downloaded Epic to try, but didn't want an Epic shortcut on my desktop, so I deleted it.  However, every time I reboot I get an Epic shortcut put on my desktop again, so I delete it again, but it always reappears the next time.  I've also had Epic pinned to my W7 Pro 64-bit taskbar multiple times, even though I have not pinned it myself and don't want it pinned there.

I have looked in the minimal Settings for a way to prevent these two unwanted actions, but if it's there, I've missed it.  How can I stop the unwanted shortcuts and pinning?
