I’ve faced a similar issue on Windows where the process tab shows an unusually high number of open files, especially after long sessions with multiple apps running. In my case, the problem was linked to background services not releasing resources properly. Restarting the affected service instead of the whole system helped, and keeping unnecessary startup apps disabled reduced the frequency of this bug.
