email suggestions?

Hi, tks for this "anti-Google" (in terms) browser and hello from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, just in case there are any around. 
I want to move away from Gmail to a new service.  Any suggestions?
I already use Pobox.com redirection mail services and am very glad with them.
Someone suggested me Fastmail.com, but I'd rather use a free service.

Perhaps Hushmail. They offer a free level with 25 MB of storage.

Be careful about so-called private email services.  I've looked at a few and they weren't clear about they did/didn't do unfortunately. 

Email fundamentally can't really be private because of how it's designed, so a service needs to be very clear about what it does, what it doesn't do, what problems it may have, and how it works.

Some of my friends use these 'throwaway e-mails' such as incognitomail

I don't trust any e-mail provider to be honest but here are a few decent ones

Always read the Privacy Policy, you will be surprised(or maybe not) on what information they actually do collect from you.
